45 Ryries Rd, Lawrence, NSW

This is a place for an old-fashioned camping holiday with modern amenities, where lasting memories are made. Well behaved dogs are most welcome too.

Secret Lake Retreat is a small family-run business that provides lakeside and bush sites for swags, tents, caravans, motorhomes and anything in-between!

With over 800 acres of bushland to explore, a gorgeous 60 acre private lake, abundant wildlife, sandstone outcrops, waterholes, seasonal creeks and no nearby neighbours, this is the perfect destination for a family holiday or a relaxing retreat.

We are a primitive camp and most sites have not been fully levelled. Individual allocated sites are described when booking. With unallocated sites, just choose your own spot.

You will see a huge variety of native birds and other wildlife.  See our gallery.

Whether you are lazing about camp, kayaking, bushwalking, mountain bike riding or bird-watching, Secret Lake Retreat offers as much, or as little, activity as you could want.

We are located in the Clarence Valley between Byron Bay and Coffs Harbour and inland from Yamba. The region has large sections of untouched coast line, pristine bushland, mountains, beaches, lakes, white water rapids and more - it has it all really! There is so much to do and see in the area. Make us your base to explore.

The village of Lawrence has a lot on offer with the well-renowned Lawrence Tavern and Lawrence General Store covering your basic needs just 10 minutes’ drive from us. For those who need a barista-made coffee or a counter meal - you can get that and more!

The larger Scottish-themed town of Maclean is a short (free) ferry trip over the Clarence River and well worth a visit.

Get back to the simpler life and come see us here at Secret Lake Retreat.

Unallocated Lake Front Location

This is away from the main camp but with a long lakefront access. Some level sites. No camping closer than 10m to the water’s edge. You can access the lake from this area but are a distance from the amenities block, pontoon and complimentary kayaks. Ideal for fully self-contained campers who want some space. The water’s edge can be a bit muddy but there are sandy beach areas to sit on and/or swim out from. Fire pits (old truck rims) are available for your use. Bins are located throughout the campground.

Unallocated Hill Side Camp Location

A little further to walk to the lake but not that far to the amenities block. The bush and lake views are great. Levelled sites available, this area is suitable for tent setups. Fire pits (old truck rims) are available for your use. Let us know if there is not one where you need it. Bins are located throughout the campground. Trees: These unallocated sites are in a bush setting. Please set up your camp to avoid the possibility of a falling branch.

Allocated Lake Front Camp Location
Situated close to the amenities. All sites have some slope (some more than others) and require levelling blocks for camper trailers and campervan/caravans. Slopes are specified in each site’s notes when you book. Sites are a generous 120-150m2 in size and most are a herringbone shape to give everyone a good lake view and easy access. Some sites are drive through. These allocated sites are close to the pontoon and communal fire-pits. There are numerous bins for you to dispose of your rubbish.
